CAISA at Folkemødet 2026

CAISA at Folkemødet 2026: How Is AI Shaping the Future of Society?
CAISA is participating in Folkemødet 2026 with a strong academic contribution to key societal debates on artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, and the future of democracy.
On Friday, June 12, 2.00 p.m. to 2.50 p.m., CAISA will host the debate event “Will We Ever Move Beyond Facebook? Social Media as Digital Sovereignty” in the University of Copenhagen’s tent (G35). The discussion will focus on how global technology platforms shape the digital public sphere and what opportunities exist to develop Danish and European alternatives.
Drawing on current geopolitical and technological developments, the debate will address who ultimately sets the framework for democratic participation online and the implications this has for knowledge foundations, public discourse, and political agency.
Broad Participation Across the Program
In addition, CAISA is broadly represented at Folkemødet through Center Director Rebecca Adler-Nissen and Principal Researchers Morten Axel Pedersen, Helene Friis Ratner, and Anders Søgaard. They will take part in a wide range of debates and discussions across the program, including:
- AI and geopolitics, digital sovereignty, and European competitiveness
- Artificial intelligence in education, welfare, and the public sector
- Generative AI, knowledge production, and credibility in the digital public sphere
- Democratic participation and human judgment in an AI shaped society
Overall, CAISA contributes research-based perspectives on how AI is not merely a technological development, but a fundamental driver of societal transformation.
Please note the debates, talks, etc. are in Danish.
